Name eight golf courses on a map

As golf fans will no doubt be aware, the 2012 Ryder Cup is taking place right now, 25-30 September, in Medinah Illinois. The competition is contested every two years with the venue alternating between courses in Europe and the United States. Unsurpisingly, the teams from Europe and the US are competing for the Ryder Cup, named after Samual Ryder, who originally donated the trophy.

You might feel you are very familiar with British golf courses, either from playing on them yourself, or watching tournaents being played on the television, but would you recognise them on a map? Our surveying team, both on foot and by air, capture golf courses across Great Britain as part of their daily work. These form some of the 440 million features in our geospatial database. In today’s quiz, tell us whether you recognise these eight courses – they are shown in OS MasterMap Imagery Layer with OS MasterMap Topography Layer in the background. Post your answers on the blog.
